No, "pigeons" isn't a fancy term for a type of anime boy, it is exactly as it sounds.

(help me I'm laughing so hard)

Who came up with that kind of game?!

I'm alternating between replaying the entire Sam and Max series with the Did You Try lists and Terraria. And thanks to PecanBlue, I just started a game where I am dating birds. Oh, what a life!

If Mario Kart 7 had a mission mode, it would be the greatest Mario Kart ever!

(Well, mechanics and graphically, it is. Nintendo did a great job tweaking it for more actual racing. And for once I can't say there is a single track I hate. I like that there are a few tracks that aren't looping, and the hanglider and underwater sections are nicely placed. The online was smooth as silk for me, and I was playing 7 other Japanese people! Its so goddarn fun! :D)

A friend bought me Skyward Sword yesterday so I've been playing that. I love the graphical style, it's like a cross between the more realistic look of Twilight Princess and the cartoony look of Wind Waker. They've actually got the best of both worlds out of it; I particularly love that Link's giant, expressive eyes have returned.

I haven't played enough to an opinion on the rest of the game but so far so good.
They are when you're trying to 100% the games. lol Really, for Ocarina of Time, I don't need a guide unless I'm trying to track down the dumb Skulltulas. I've played the game far too many times.

    That's a good point, I didn't think about it that way. :)

It works, but not as well as using the touch screen. For DS games, the analog slider works about the same as the D-pad. Makes it a little harder to sneak up on sleeping piranha plants and you have to hold one of the buttons to make Mario run. Though, I do prefer using it to the touch screen...the whole touch screen to control the game is one of the reasons I've put off getting Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

And I agree Woodsyblue, this Link is pretty darn expressive. Definitely more so than Twilight Princess's Link. Don't get me wrong, he had some great expressions(especially when he was getting b*****ed out by Ilia over Epona being "hurt"), but Skyward Sword took it up a notch or five.

Yeah, Links bursting with character in Skyward Sword. Saw a great scene with him comforting Groose this afternoon!

Animation on the whole in Skyward Sword is really really good, it does drama sublimely and the animators have a fantastic knack for comic timing.

Boredom and depression brought me back to my Pokemon Crystal game. I forgot that the only thing left I have to do is defeat Red/Ash and catch the Legendary Birds.

That is, if I don't get distracted with my Pokemon Stadium 2 efforts. Apparently I stopped playing the game as I was trying to level up a Quagsire for the Poke Cup R-2.

    Kurushi/Intelligent Qube

This is a real unsung hero of the PS1 era.
A game where you run around and set traps, to clear cubes.

Sounds simple, and it is, but it gets so, so horribly hard.

    Deathspank: TOV.

Feel like repeating a true story that happened to me regarding this game. I've defeated the Nun (and got the achievement), so I warp to the next outhouse (Colony 7, or whatever it's called) ready to head into the 'Wild West' area. Only as soon as the robots appear, the game crashes.

    And corrupts my savegame.

That's what, 6 hours down the drain? Yeah, Steam confirms it: 6 hours I now have to repeat because the game is a piece of crap. God dammit! So angry right now at this game!

Me and my cousin are making rapid progress in Terraria. I started replaying about last week. And we are both phaseblading it up with full demonite armor, all but 3 CPUs left(Clothior, wizard, and mechanic), and rocket boots. Working on the ivy whip now and some other jungle gear.

Finished Deathspank: TOV on Steam (and uploaded some screenshots, if you'd like to take a look at them). Having now played the DLC, I will not be buying it for the PS3 unless it's under a pound, because it's exactly one mission that's not particularly interesting.

Currently Playing: Dead Space 2 (on PS3) and will be shortly starting The Baconing (Steam).

    Crusader: No Remorse

I have to say that this game so far has been GREAT!

    Hard though.

I had to set the difficulty to the second lowest, as I was getting killed instantly.

Another thing that was evil was the fact that some floors can just give way without warning and kill you.

I lost a lot of progress on the first level, as right near the end, which was a bit annoying.

The controls are a bit odd too, though once you get the hang of them, aren't bad.
Maybe I could make a custom xpadder setup so I can use the 360 controller, and make things a little easier.

I think I may spend more time on this GOG tomorrow.
(I definately need to try and play some of them! XD)

I've been playing Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth recently, and have been enjoying it a lot, far more than a couple of the previous Ace Attorney games (specifically, the 2nd & 4th ones). It's good to have a change in the way the game is played but still keeping the same essence that the series is known for. It's a shame that there's currently no plans to localise the sequel, though I guess if it was localised then it would also probably be released on the 3DS which I don't have nor do I have plans to get one in the near future. So I might as well enjoy this game as much as I can as I don't know when I'll be back to this series, if ever.

I may have to dig out my copy and play it again as I've never completed it. I remember playing the demos ages ago, probably around when it first came out, and I enjoyed it so much that I played it many times. It wasn't until some years later that I bought the game, 'cos I got it as part of a two for £15 deal or something like that but I didn't play much of it. So may have to remedy that.

Just finished Dead Space 2. Apparently it took 8½ to play through, though it felt longer. Eh.

I'll be cracking on with The Baconing and probably returning to Tomb Raider Underworld.

Star Wars The Old Republic. Got an invite from the first wave of early access. I'm not really sure how long I'm going to last. I usually manage to get around 2 weeks out of an mmorpg until I get bored. Maybe SWTOR will fair better due to the more interactive quest givers.

    Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Like Rawr, I too have early access, (and my copy arrived in the mail today, so I'm fully set up! :D).

Now I normally don't like MMO's, but thats due to all of them being free-to-plays, (aka pay-to-win), but this one I like.

I love the Mass effect style character interactions, and the overall story and the smuggler class story so far. The gameplay isn't so bad either.

It could be better, (Its a bit stiff for me). I've never played World of Warcraft, but I've heard the battle system is similar, so thats probably why its so simple.

Basically, as a Smuggler (I chose a Cyborg Smuggler since he looks so cool, and everyone is likely to be a jedi), you have a gun. It has a limited range, so you have to stay at a relatively close range. However, your abilities are pretty good.

You have crouching, which you can just do to make you a little harder to hit, but you can pretty much use almost anything as moderate cover.
(As long as you can still shoot over it!)
So its recommended not to just rush into a pack of enemies, or run past them, as they can hurt you fairly bad.

Once you level up a little, you get some good skills.
You can launch grenades which hits groups in an area for a good chunk of damage.
Also charged shots while crouching is useful, and can be combo'd nicely with the grenade, giving you a good advantage in the start of a firefight.
You have a few melee abilities, but thats mostly for aiding in escaping close combat.
(so one ability stuns for a few seconds, so you can counter with some blaster shots, or run for cover)

Its nice to see the game give you some good loot to start, and a good wealth of interesting early missions to keep your interest.
I probably won't play it a lot, so in a way its ideal for me.
Gives me a good chance to just jump in, do a few missions, get some loot, then go.

I am a member of Spoony's Guild, though I haven't interacted with anyone yet.
I guess I want to just train, and get to grips with the battle and mission stuff some more before I engage in any PvP, though I suspect in a game like this, that will also be very fun too.

I'm definately going to play it some more tomorrow. :D

    Yes. I am.

Its a bit slow during the interactions, but pretty smooth otherwise.

(I gather its my laptop as well. Since I only have a 2.4ghz Turion II, and a Mobility Radeon HD 5450. Pretty good, but definately showing its age now. (struggles to run Serious Sam 3, and just plain too slow for Dead Rising 2: Off the Record)

Been randomly disconnected about 5 or 6 times, but its never been too inconvenient.
  • edited December 2011
    Why? xD

I'm on a EU server. Tomb of Freedom Nadd or something. Level 17 Jedi Shadow atm.
  • edited December 2011
Sorry for double post but, you were probably wise to go on a US server. The EU servers are plagued with queues. My Jedi is on a server which has 2hour-4hour queues at peak time, which forced me to make a Sith Juggernaut on another server. He's level 16 now, and that server is also getting 2hour queues at peak time. Not particularly happy.

I've never had to queue at all! XD

Besides, the whole 6 hours behind works for us so well.

6pm here is 12pm there. So you can normally play as long as you like, as not many people are on a server.

The Spoony Expendables are on this particular server, and only just now is it full, (though I still connected to it fine).

I think it has a cap of 140 players. (Almost 40 of which were clan members)
I didn't even get disconnected this time either!

I'm only level 7 at the moment. (Smuggler) But I'm taking my time and only playing a few hours here and there. Doing all the sidequests by myself really.
(Haven't even teamed up with anyone or PvP'd yet!)

Got a nice little gun from the main quest now. Has 4 slots for customising, and I alread have 4 parts for it, though I need to be lvl 9 to use the last one.

I actually am really liking this game. Much more than I thought I would. :D

EDIT: Also I've been playing El Shaddai for a bit as well.

    Very nice game.
It has a unique, interesting story; a simplistic, but well executed and smart battle system ; and the art is just FANTASTIC!!

I actually had to stop sometimes, and just admire the view.

The game is hard though. Stuck on a boss at the moment.
    But its quite forgiving though.

Overall, so far its a very solid, well designed game.

    NO!! NO YOU DON'T!!

Patch 1.29 took away some of my DLC, and my OCD is going crazy right now trying to figure out what I lost as a result. Oh, sure I could just reinstall it to get it back, right? WRONG! I reinstalled it from a fresh, clean slate. They still didn't show up in the game.

Then you have their big ticket DLC messing up in all kind of ways. Barnacle Bay, their second world you can buy, reportedly doesn't have any of the spawners that produce gems, rocks, metal, and fish. Hidden Springs works great as a world, but the Premium Gameplay DLC that comes with it may or may not work with your game. If you download the Spell Book, since they are not going to a full on fantasy Magic EP, expect to have your Sims become corrupted and unplayable after extended use.

You're better off not playing with DLC, but if you have to have some, get only the freebies that they offer. Don't give them money for potentially broken DLC!

And this is coming from someone who has paid $1,100+ in DLC over the course of the game's three year run so far.
  • edited December 2011
Yeah, I actually meant EPs. The DLC is horrible screwed over. Even before patch 1.29 which breaks everything (even the in-game Shop Mode which caused me to lose about an hour of gameplay due to a crash of the game), the spellbook caused trouble with the magic mansion pack thingy, where the magic sparkle effect would not appear when both are installed.

So yeah, EA seriously borks everything. But hey, their motto isn't "we break everything we make" for nothing, right?

But seriously, if I wanted the DLC content, I'd just find another way of obtaining them.

World Adventures is unplayable until you get Pets or the 1.26 Patch. I can't remember which fixed all the issues that the previous EPs caused to the poor title. :(

The 1.29 patch isn't a problem, since I have the Steam version which auto-updates anyway, regardless of whether I want it or not. Pets automatically came with patch 1.26 anyway, so the game had to be at least patched to that version to prepare the game for the EP.

EDIT: Just finished the Blackwell Legacy. Only need to go through the other two games now.

wow yeah that is a horrible port. I remember saving alot back on the PC version but I spend more time in save management than playing that actual game with this version. Probably because I know the controls suck. If you can finish that game I salute you

Playing the heck out of Rayman Origins. Such a well designed game, collecting 300+ lums force you to pull of some sick moves and really show off the level design. The final level is utterly mental (Night of the Livid Dead). Thankfully its not frustrating in the same way Super Meat Boy isn't due to the small time penalty for death and frequent checkpoints

Also Pullblox (Pushmo) on 3DS. Awesome puzzler by intelligent systems which really uses depth perception to its advantage. similar block climbing to Catherine but really addictive and charming and has a crap load of content. And only a fiver on EShop

    Shinobi (3DS)

You know I like this game quite a bit.

It didn't get great reviews, because its a very old school game.

    VERY old school!

You have to learn the patterns of enemies and bosses, the timings on the levels, and have some great platforming skills as this game will require you to use all of them.

Parry is VITAL. You have to learn to take advantage of it.
Once you do, you can see the game has a kind of rhythm to it.
(The design to levels are deliberately repetative, with a pattern that varies a bit here and there. Definately a speed run sort of game)

It is an arcade game at heart. Pretty faithful to its kin. Devil May Cry it is not.

And I'd say though it is hard, it is quite fair.
Most of the time you fail because you messed up.
Its not like Contra 4, where you don't see anything coming half the time, the enemies give you a chance to parry, dodge, jump or slide towards them.

Its already pretty cheap, (I got it at launch for £20!), but if you can get it cheap enough for you to feel comfortable with I recommend it.

nice I was thinking about getting Shinobi. Despite being a totally different game, sounds like it has that Dark Souls feel by forcing you to remember enemy patterns and punishing you for loss of concentration and rewarding patience. I love all that but I heard they are a bit stingy with lives and because of that it starts bordering on unfair. need to look into that because my 3DS seems fragile and demands care, not games like this
