Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. F**k this game. F**k it good. Even on the easy setting, I'm finding it an absolute nightmare. I'm really not cut out for this sort of game, at least not on a competitive level, so 'winning' is going to be complete and utter hell. Even quick-saving isn't much help. Oh, this will hurt.
(And before you ask, there's a PS3 Trophy in it for me, which is why I'm busting my balls to do it)

Yup. That game is pretty tough.
I have completed it though, on regular settings, so its far from impossible.
Just need to practice forming larger combos. Once you get those down quite well, all you need to do then is be able to adapt the frequency and size of your combos to counteract your opponents strategy.
(Some fare well against small combos, but suffer greatly when exposed to a massive combo. Others need some good timing of smaller combos to muck up their plans)
Robotnik is a total cheat though. I got lucky when I finally beat him!

And that, right there, is my problem. Any large combos that come up are by sheer accident - I have trouble trying to plan ahead to get any sort of combo going beyond the standard 'match 4 colours'. Ugh.

Okay you need to think 3's.
Make a stack of three of the same color, then put a different color over it. Then stack 3 of that color on top of the other 3. Then maybe put one of the first color over the new three, so that when you form 4 of that second color it drops the fourth original color and starts a reaction.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm currently playing Dissidia Duodecim.
Loved Dissidia, will likely love this too!
Why haven't I ever played this before now? I don't know, but whatever reasons they are were stupid. This game is great.
I only just recently played it myself, and I agree. It's got to be one of the best gaming experiences I recall having regardless of genre. The reason I never played it before is because I've never been interested in much besides straight adventure, puzzle, strategy and 2D platformers. I wish I'd played it years ago, so I could be on my second or third playthrough of it now.
same. shit, someone else actually plays that here.
A friend got me into the series a few iterations back and I've been into it since, more so since I can't stand this year's FIFA which is my usual go to sports game and so NHL is it.
Rayman 3 HD (out now on PS3 and XBox 360!). It's fun, even if the whole 'scoring' thing is absolute BS.
You have to get a perfect score on every level to get an achievement too, and you don't know whether you got enough points or not until the game's already saved your progress at the start of the next level! Gah!
I'm starting the Blackwell Series, and my first impression is that Rosa's voice-actress really has no idea how to put sincere emotion in her voice. She sounds so... apathetic. It just doesn't work when she's supposed to sound surprised or nervous, for example.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (Nintendo DS) - Awesome. Might be the best adventure game I've played that was released this century. Doesn't bombard you with dialogue like most adventure game developers think they're supposed to do.
Hotel Dusk (Nintendo DS) - So far so good, still early on. No spoilers!
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Nintendo DS) - I'm actually stuck on a witness testimony which is very embarrassing. Shouldn't be this difficult to figure out what they want me to do.
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (PS3) - Solid. After finishing AC2 I was sick and tired of the formula, but after a few months passed I started getting the yearning again and am enjoying it.
Decided to give Psychonauts another go. Getting it to work on Steam with an HDTV was an adventure in its self.
If you're having display problems, it's not hard to fix them. There is an .ini file in the Psychonauts folder called DisplaySettings.ini with the following settings:
If you're having issues getting the game to run with its default settings (the above are not the defaults, they are mine), you can change them here instead of ingame.
Yeah, I figured it out but thanks. I had that problem as well as the common audio problem. Turned a "hey, I want to play that game" thought into a project :P I'm taking my time this playthrough too.
I'm replaying Under a Killing Moon for the first time since I played it when it was new. I remember trying to, but failing to get it installed from the original CDs when I wanted to play it again some years ago, but after the Tex Murphy Kickstarter proposal news, I decided to just get it on gog.com. (Besides, my original is buried among other games in some cardboard box somewhere at my mom's house. If I remember correctly the game came in some foldable CD case held in place with a magnet when closed.)
I just got to day 4 and I've found that this game has aged extremely well in my opinion. Sure, the acting might not be Oscar material, but I think that and it's humour is spot-on for the noir genre. It's sometimes a bit tricky to find the camera angles required to find items you need to proceed. Such as the
balloon
I knew I had to find, but missed due to it being in
the corner of the sink in Rusty's back room
. It even got me to try the in-built hint system, which didn't help for this particular case, but still looks like one of the best hint system I've seen in any game. In my opinion it's a lot better than hint balloons or npc dialogue hints, since you have to actively seek the hints, rather than stumbling upon them, perhaps unintentionally.
Played a bit of Heroes of Might and Magic 1 yesterday, and was it nostalgic.
But it was also really annoying, there is no hex in combat and it's really limited where your creatures can go. I always end up having them blocking each others paths.
I love how everyone in this game, even the lowly bartenders, seem to have a detailed philosophical opinion about the pros and cons of a one world government.
In other news, I had to give up reviving "Anachronox". The serious 40-second lags, the massive clipping and movement infunctionality in the cutscenes and last not least the malfunctioning controls, I could stand it all on W7 64 bit. Unfortunately, a gamebreaking bug appeared out of the blue and, as they say, "it was super effective". I hope a patched version is on gog.com one day.
Oh-my-god. This has actually happened. Only five and a half months after I really, really wished for it. Downloading NOW. If this thing works, I will have to eventually deliver some Anachronox fan art.
Hopefully the hotel I'm staying for my family vacation has wifi so I can play some more at some time. Need to be able to customize my bat/joker.
Unless you want to play for months I really recommend the DLC pack that unlocks all costumes.
Well depends on how good youz are. The higher your score the more coins you get.
Also: why did it not save?
Also: what's your Gamertag found you.

Yeah, I did notice the 1000 levels. Dear god.
However, I don't feel the need to buy all the costume items via DLC. Might get the exp boost though. That is a permenant effect correct?
Correct it is permanent on the PC.
Costumes don't unlock with levels but with the coins you collect for playing multiplayer. BUT you cannot change costumes until you reach level 8 (which you can reach quite fast) Then you will have about 80 coins. The cheapest items are 40 coins, the most expansive ones 1500.

Well in that case, I'm only going to get the costume pieces I want with the coins then, unless it takes a while to earn enough coins for a piece, I'll skip the costume DLC. Nice it has that option though.
My god, this has nothing to do with the first two games. Nothing at all. I mean, I kind of knew having played the demo, but sweet moses. There's nothing familiar about this except a couple of characters, and they act nothing like they used to. What the hell was Rare thinking? Fail. Just... fail.

I know how you feel. I used to love Mumbo Jumbo and his powers, and then he just loses them all to be a mechanic?
And the drama of Bottles dieing is why his family left him? THEY DIDN'T KNOW HE DIED!
Gameplay wise though it is a nice sandbox driver IMO. Not Banjo Kazooie at all though.

Currently playing Sonic 3D. It's more 2½D really. Bit of a misnomer. But hey, it's not terrible.
Professor Layton and the Devil's Flute.

Created a new blade which is very good.
I've managed to catch a Yian Kut Ku and a velocidrome with little issue.

One of the best Gamecube games EVER.
Switching between GTA4 and Kingdoms of Amalur since I've beaten Mass Effect 3.
Rayman Origins is wonderful, but so DAMN_HARD, especially with keyboard controls...
Same. Only have played one match though... which it didn't save.

Auto-Mode, for the win.

This game is hard.
Gave up on that once I realized I wasn't really enjoying it and moved back to Bionic Commando.
@Chyron8472: ...oh, I get it. 'cause it's... yeah, that's cute.
