Well, that's only part of the problem.

The main part of the problem... is that the computer doesn't work. At all. The motherboard is detached from everything and that is a three hundred dollar repair job for a five year old computer. And even then, the information on that computer may not be intact and I might just be resurrecting it for a clean wipe.

It's not about ressurecting the computer, it's about ripping the hard drive out and using a cheap adapter to hook the drive up to another, working computer as an external drive.
    What LuigiHann said.

What you need is to recover your data from the hard drive. This does not require the computer it is in to work. If the hard drive alone still functions, you can take it out of your broken computer, put it into a HDD enclosure (which is essentially a case with a USB plug), plug said enclosure into a working computer and access the files.

Whether or not the motherboard is shot may have no bearing on whether the hard drive works, and removing the hard drive from a laptop is as easy as unscrewing a plastic cover and unplugging the drive from a couple of cables.

Well, technically, I already did that when I bought my new computer, everything got transported over, because the Apple people have a quick and easy hard drive copier thing where they pop both hard drives into this thing that looks like a toaster (and maybe... it is). So I should have all the information somewhere on my computer. I just don't know where.

Even if I did, the save games were on my PC partition, which is now inaccessible since I don't exactly have one anymore. Even if I could find out where they went, I don't know if I could open them as a text file or something and somehow transfer them to my PC.

And all of this is assuming that I didn't just delete them all when I was frustrated over how small my partition was. Which I might have done because I was deleting a lot of things. Deleted all my Witcher save files.

    Oh, it's an Apple laptop...

    bah.

Great, so you do have them.
Even if I did, the save games were on my PC partition, which is now inaccessible since I don't exactly have one anymore.p
Or maybe not. Wait, what? You don't have a PC anymore, or you don't have a PC operating system for your Mac?
Even if I could find out where they went, I don't know if I could open them as a text file or something and somehow transfer them to my PC.
You shouldn't need to be able to open the files in order to copy them...
And all of this is assuming that I didn't just delete them
    Oh.

    =\ Oh well.

It doesn't really matter. I don't particularly care about keeping all my detailed decisions from the previous games into a game where all those choices mean diddly.
  • edited April 2013
Oh, let's not re-open THAT can of worms.
  • edited April 2013
I never understood why people thought Mass Effects decisions mattered too actually. Ignoring the ending, the majority of the decisions effect nothing, and the ones that do tend to have a very obvious right answer that you'd be stupid not to do. Why try and decide what to do with the evidence for Talis case when a paragon/renegade action clears her name without any evidence at all?

But remember, kids, all of your money spent on Fez goes directly into growing more pubes on one's face!

One being a drama queen attention whore, is what I forgot to mention.

Oh please. Some goes to Steam and the coder and Disasterpiece. And then some to the Phish.
And Phish is nothing more than a troll that really knows how to push peoples buttons.

I think boosted is the wrong word here.
A lot of 13 year old gamers 4Chan users seem to think he is worse than Hitler.

And it still doesn't change that a great game is a great game.

It would have to be one special game to make me support a major douchebag/idiot/troll, whichever one he really is.

Like I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. The creator/writer is a dick, but that game is bloody dope. That fella seems to be a genuine dick. Genuine asshead is better than the one that does it to whore out for publicity, though.

With backlogs and more intriguing games out there, it's really easy not to buy.

    Dammit, I wanted that one!

    snooze = lose
  • edited April 2013
Oh, this won't be controversial at all...

Actually, it probably won't be. It's just Steam offering MMO subscription through Steamworks instead of through another source.
  • edited April 2013
Hmm. Haven't a problem with fee-based MMOs, just don't like them on Steam.

    GamersGate deals:

    - 50% off Omerta: City of Angels
    - 75% off Orcs Must Die!

No Daily Deal for the next few days - it's been replaced with a Rockstar Games Weekend. At least 50% off everything Rockstar has developed/published, with an uber-saving on a specific franchise from today to Sunday.

Today's is 75% off LA Noire. Make sure you get the Complete Edition - it's well worth the extra couple of bucks.

Weekend Deals are running as normal:

    Daily GamersGate Deals:

    - 66% off Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
    - 75% off Hitman Absolution

And the King's Bounty series is 75% off this weekend. Not all of it's on Steam (actually, only Warriors of the North is, from what I can tell), so bear that in mind.

Sorry this is late, late at work then went to my sister's housewarming (she & her boyfriend bought a house! Yay them!), so yeah, not been in this evening. Anyway, I'm here now, so whatever.

Rockstar Deal of the Day is the Max Payne franchise, which is 75% off (or 80% for the whole series).

Standard Daily Deal is 66% off:

    capsule_467x181.jpg

Still a tad too expensive for me, but hey ho.

Also: Another Get Loaded Go deal. Any 2 of the following for £15:
    - Carrier Command: Gaea Mission
    - Civilization V: Gold Edition
    - DCS: P51 Mustang
    - F1™ 2012
    - Hitman Absolution: Professional Edition
    - LEGO The Lord Of The Rings
    - Serious Sam 3 + First & Second Encounter HD
    - Sleeping Dogs (Not Available in Germany)
    - Sniper Elite V2: High Command Edition (Not Available in Germany)
    - Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed

Most of these are on Steam. Not sure if this is available outside Europe - could someone let me know?
  • edited April 2013
I am just shocked right now. They actually would sell me Max Payne 2 all of a sudden. Must be an error. Too bad I already own it.

GreenManGaming has some good deals, including the one I got - Tomb Raider: Survivor (as I call it) at half price.

    Other highlights include:

    - 80% off the Arcen Games Pack (Shattered Haven + A Valley Without Wind 1 + 2)
    - 75% off the Dreamcast collection
    - 75% off the Jagged Alliance Collection
    - 75% off the Just Cause Collection
    - 75% off the Sleeping Dogs Pack
    - 75% off the Spellforce Collection
    - 75% off the Tomb Raider Classics Collection (name not applicable to Angel of Darkness)
    - 75% off the Total War Master and GRAND Master Collections (make sure you don't get the two confused - the former is just the core games while the latter has a load of DLC and is more expensive)

If you get anything use the code GMG20-GGN5D-FC3NA to knock even more off.

Also, that GetLoadedGo deal? It's 2 for $24, if Kotaku's MoneySaver post is anything to go by.

Bear in mind I live in the UK, so it displays it in Pounds for me, which is why I asked someone from the US to let me know what it charged them. And now I don't need anyone to tell me, because I found out. :p

Sniper Elite V2: Not for Germany. Well okay. No then.

Can't buy any more of the new Tomb Raider on sale from GMG. It says "out of stock."

It's basically a board game you play on your computer. As you do.

Today's Rockstar Deal of the Day is Grand Theft Auto series. Again. Woo.

Forgot to check in with GamersGate yesterday, oops. Oh well, probably didn't miss much. Today's deals include:
    - 66% off Formula 1 2012
    - 66% off Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion
    - 75% off Supreme Commander 2

  • edited April 2013
