I just realised no one will be watching steam support on a Sunday.
    Lovely.

Well then at least I got something out of that purchase.

You just don't like it because Pants likes it. I am on to you RD, oh yes.

Deus Ex will go on sale, so the wait is a good idea. I'm not sure the combined playtime of Painkiller and Bioshock will really sustain anyone that long, though. Bioshock lasted me one weekend, and there's a few of those between now and Christmas.
If you like Bioshock, you don't mind replaying it once or twice. I wouldn't expect you to get that though, since you didn't enjoy it the first time. Not judging, just sayin'.

Painkiller, on the other hand, is something you come back to over and over because it's always fun to pin enemies to walls with wooden stakes, set them on fire or dismember them with a weed-whacker (aka: the titular Painkiller). So long as you don't run through it all in one go, it'll last you quite a while.

So I bought Bioshock, but Steam gave me Bioshock 2, so now I have to send a support ticket on that. Wonderful.
Wait, what? How the hell did that happen?

The experience is entirely narrative. I tried playing it again to get to the other ending, but the content wasn't differentiated enough, as a good 95% of the content gets absolutely no change from the opposite moral allignment. I can't just watch the same movie twice in short succession, especially a particularly bad one, and that's what someone would have to do to play Bioshock again.

As for Painkiller, yeah that can be picked up again pretty easily, but I wouldn't say it gives as much playtime as(for example) a real RPG like the on sale Vampire: The Masquerade game or something with a bit more variety to it like The Binding of Isaac(which is getting a huge Halloween update on the 31st).

I dont even know. It said Bioshock when I purchased and Bioshock 2 is in my steam library with no hint of its prequal. The support ticket is sent and I have painkiller while I wait.

How bizarre. Well, at least you have Painkiller. :)

Yes. And that one I double checked 4 times. It is the black edition:D

Well lets hope for the best on bioshock then.

-Blatant Plagiarism: The third episode of this game features a plot that directly lifts story elements from various dystopian sources, such as A Clockwork Orange and Nineteen Eighty-Four. [...] A solid fifth of the story has absolutely no CHANCE of being original in any way, because it's pulled directly out of a small selection of American fiction
    American fiction

Ok I know this was forever ago, but I'm playing catchup and just couldn't let such a heinous lie slide. Both Anthony Burgess and George Orwell were English you scallywag!
I believe that PayPal reports an address, and that the store shows prices based on IP address.

Confirmed the latter part. I haven't done anything to my account since leaving London, but prices in the store are now displayed in US dollars.
    Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (Remastered) - £1.74 / $2.49
Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper - £2.99 / $4.99

Has anyone here played the Sherlock Holmes games? Any good?

    Scallywag?!

...You are far too kind to me on this count.

Today's Daily Deal (remember those? Ah, how quaint they seem now) is Depths of Peril, an RPG with strong strategy elements. £2.75 / $3.75

Anyone played Cthulu saves the world and tell me if its any good? I just saw it on TB's WTF is athon I have $2.52 in my steam wallet(I put in $10 prior to buying the games)and would rather buy a game over tf2 items, and this game is on sale along with breath of death VII for $2.00

I *love* it. It has all the great things about JRPGs, tons of great comedy, and a lot of awesome tweaks to the formula to streamline the gameplay without making it stupid.

    Good enough for me.
EDIT:I just want to say that steam did fix my issue and Bioshock 2 has been removed with a refund of the game in my wallet. I then proceeded to carefully buy Bioshock 1. And it worked.

I have also noticed in the reply that I was given, that they are not doing this again should a similar problem arise in the future so I guess I lucked out.

Well, damn, now I want to pick up LIMBO, but I think I've spent too much on games this month already.
  • edited October 2011
I'd wait on it. The game itself is pretty short, for one. Also, 25% isn't all that impressive in Steam sale terms, and we have a big one coming up right around the proverbial corner.
  • edited October 2011
That's about what I figured. Besides, at the rate things are going, I'll probably end up with it out of some indie bundle or another.

And after all, it's not like I have any shortage of games to keep myself occupied.

Great decision. I only started it after playing through Breath Of Death VII (which TB also played on his marathon) but I needed a break from this sort of game. But even only BoD was worth the money for the double pack.
also I'm surprised they acted so fast. And on a sunday. All I hear in their forum is the opposite tbh..

Daily Deal - Hegemony: Philip of Macedon £4.79/$6.80 - http://store.steampowered.com/app/90100/

Real time strategy based on the conquest of ancient greece, or something. I've never heard of it before personally.

    It's £4.76, but good guess!

And it's up an hour early! That's not fair!

Oh please who cares about 3p! I still got there first, regardless.

Dang it he did? I missed a few to play minecraft with my cousin.

Actually, I did notice you wanting glowfish after he tried it:p

Was it any good/have the same sense of humor as cthulu?
EDIT:Apparantly one of the makers of cthulu noted that TB's mention skyrocketed the sales of the game. Just like every other games he reviews.

It has the same humor but it is a lot less polished because it was released before Cthulu.

Edit: thanks Darth Madsen. I am feeling like this kid right now

Ahh. Well I bought it with Cthulu, so I might as well give it a shot.

It's not exactly a sale, but I'm sure that some people, if they don't open Steam very often and therefore don't see the update news, might be interested to know that if you pre-purchase Trine 2, you get access to the multiplayer beta.

Today's Daily Deal is Evil Genius (good news for der_ketzer, since it's on his wish list!). It's actually quite a fun little strategy/sim game. £1.75 / $2.50

Also, the Midweek Madness is Bastion, which is odd - it's a recent release! If you didn't get it before, you've little reason not to now that it's half price at £5.74 / $7.49.

EDIT: The Bastion OST is also half price at $2.99 / $4.99. You can also get the two together for £8.49 / $12.49.

Not having seven dollars and fifty cents is a pretty good reason. =P

True, but I said little reason, not no reason. My mastery of the English language wins again! :D

I played throug Bastion and it was defenently a great game. The narrator idea seems so simple, but they did it so well. Especialy the dream levels.
    Plus
In the new game + mode, you can summon PORTAL TURRENTS! How awesome is that?

Jurassic Dildo Park is up for pre-purchase on Steam now.
    Save 10%.

    Price: € 26,99 / $ 26.99 / £ 19.79

Guys why are you bullshitting EU-customers on Steam? I expected better from you.

Everyone f**ks you guys over price-wise on Steam. You should know this by now.

Does anyone remember the Geneforge series? Well if you do, you're in luck, because the entire series in now on Steam in a five-game bundle (not available individually though). It's 20% off as a launch bonus, which means they're only £13.59 / $15.99.

Today's Daily Deal (which now appears to go up shortly after 5 GMT rather than 6 as it used to be) is Toki Tori. £1.19 / $1.70

    Time for some Console Craziness!

    PS3
Hyrdophobia: Prophecy is on offer, reduced to £5.10 in the UK, and I believe $9.99 in the US. If you're a PS+ member though, it's completely free.

Also free to PS+ members is the entire PS1 Crash Bandicoot series - that's the original, its two sequels and Crash Team Racing. Which is awesome. There's also a couple of minis, Rumble Trucks and Where Is My Heart?, also free. It's a good week to be a member.

Telltale's range of games are still on offer to PS+ members with around 15-20% off, as is all the stuff from last week's Halloween Sale. The only other things of note are Hard Corps; Uprising and Tales from Space: About a Blob, which are also reduced to PS+ users.

    XBox 360
God, this one's easier. Three titles, all reduced, along with one outfit for your avatar.

Death by Cube - 400 points
Dishwasher: Vampire Smile - 400 points
    Limbo - 600 points

...and a Skeleton Avatar Costume, which is probably a little too late to be of any use, for 200 points.

    Today's Daily Deal is Conflict: Denied Ops, a cop-op focused FPS that's set in a war-torn Venezuela. It's got a MetaCritic rating of 58, if that's worth anything. £5.74 / $7.49

Also, if you didn't get the Humble Bundle (and why didn't you?), then Sanctum is this weekend's deal. It's half-price at £3.49 / $4.99, though the newly available DLC is not on offer. It's also free to play this weekend, if you want to 'try before you buy'.

Finally, the free version of DC Universe Online is, well, online, and you can grab it through Steam.

If only they had a discount on the Soundtrack... I'm not paying 5$ for 128kb/sek mp3s.
