I am not complaining in any way, shape, or form. Just saying ;)
EDIT:OK I'll complain its taken at least 18 hours to install, but that could be my internet.

...I know I keep buying Magicka DLC even though I haven't played it, but how the hell did I end up with all nine of them?

And you've never played it? I think you have a problem.

This Thanksgiving, we'll have to change that. If not Thanksgiving, Christmas.

    Yep, I do.

That sounds awesome, but it'll only work if you're talking about the holiday period rather than the holiday at itself, as on Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'll be at my aunt's and grandparents', respectively.

Definitely the general period. My mom would have a cow if I bunked off on Thanksgiving Day to play games. And if it's Magicka, my brother will probably want in on that too, since he absolutely loves that game.

Bejewelled 3 is also 50% off.

    (£7.49)

At £15 it was pretty ridiculous, but at the sale price, its actually not a bad buy.

Classic mode, is just plain old Bejeweled, (it has a cool warp effect between levels thats fun), and Poker mode is great.
(Its actually pretty strategic, as you have to good hands to get big points, which is vital since the game requires you to get better hands as time goes on (it starts making skulls working up each rank of hand type, and if you score a skull hand, you get 50/50 chance at an extra try, or complete Game Over))
Haven't tried the rest though, but I actually like it so far.
(I bought it mainly for my family, but I thought I'd give it a try myself)

New bundle came out and its on sale

Its the Super Meat Boy Anniversery Bundle!

It contains Super Meat Boy(Duh) and every game that cameo'd in the PC verison that has a steam version(so minecraft does not count).

So you got meat boy, half life 2(headcrab) gish, VVVVVVV, etc...
EDIT: OH the pack is $99.99, but for this sale, its $25.99. Don't know the Euros.
  • edited November 2011
Huh. Apparently I own every game in the bundle except Super Meat Boy.

Here's a link for people who don't feel like googling it: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/12315/

There's a lot of overlap with previous Humble Indie Bundles so I own most of those games as well. I don't have any of the Bit Trip games, but I played the demos for those on the Wii and I've yet to pass a single level, so I doubt I'd get much value from them.

I'm a bit fascinated by the inclusion of game soundtracks in a Steam bundle. They soundtracks are listed as DLC for their respective games, which is interesting. I wonder how they function, if they just amount to zip files full of mp3s or something else. Especially strange to see the Braid soundtrack on there, since that one's kind of a special case, being comprised entirely of pre-existing licensed music.

Speaking of Braid, they patched Tim into the Steam version of Super Meat Boy. I think he was XBLA-exclusive.

Soundtracks are just dropped into the game's directory in your Steamapps folder.

Already own all the games in the Bundle except for the Bit Trip ones.
I may get the Braid Soundtrack. I would get the Super Meat Boy Score but I already own this.
  • edited November 2011
The Braid soundtrack is pretty great. I bought it when they put it up on Magnatune. The songs are incredibly relaxing, mostly.

Let me sum up both Weekend Deals in my usual neat and clear style.

    One is Bejeweled 3, which is £7.49 / $9.99.

The other is the Super Meat Boy: Anniversary Bundle. The entire pack is £17.89 / $24.99, with the individual games being as follows:

    Aquaria: £3.49 / $4.99
    BIT.TRIP BEAT: £3.49 / $4.99
    BIT.TRIP RUNNER: £3.49 / $4.99
    Braid: £3.49 / $4.99
    Gish: £2.99 / $4.99
    Half-Life 2 (not on offer): £6.99 / $9.99
    Machinarium: £3.74 / $4.99
Super Meat Boy (well duh): £5.99 / $7.49
    VVVVVV: £1.99 / $2.49
    World of Goo: £3.49 / $4.99

There's also soundtracks for BIT.TRIP BEAT, BIT.TRIP RUNNER, Braid, Machinarium and Super Meat Boy.
They're £2.49 / $2.49 each, except Machinarium, which is properly converted to £1.99.

I was wondering about that. Would you know how you play as him on Steam and if he's any good?

He can reverse time as long as he hasn't died yet. You decide if that's any good.
  • edited November 2011
I haven't actually played Super Meat Boy, but from what I've seen, his time-rewind mechanic makes him one of the trippiest characters. Unlike in Braid, in SMB he can only rewind 3 seconds, and the rewind only affects his movement, and not the rest of the world, so it seems good for tweaking your jumps and recovering from falls and stuff. Apparently you're also invincible through the rewinding process so that might be helpful against certain obstacles.

I had a lot of fun with RUSH and would absolutely recommend it.

What's the actual gameplay like? It's hard to tell from the Steam page.

Basically, you're given this playing field with various starting and ending points for colored blocks. You have certain types of tiles that you're allowed to place, and they all effect the direction and speed of the blocks as they roll around. The goal is to get the blocks to their destination without them crashing into other blocks or falling off the edge. You place your tiles in a configuration you think will work, then you hit the start button to watch it play out. If you succeed, you clear the level. If not, you can try to make adjustments or start over.

Note that there are also 5(well technicaly 5, but one of them the answer is given to you) portal themed puzzles with companion cubes. Games with Portal themed stuff is always worth a purchase.

Today's Daily Deal is Hydrophobia: Prophecy. £1.50 / $2.25, or if you have a Playstation Plus account, still free on PSN.
  • edited November 2011
It looks like the patch to add Tim to the steam version of SMB still hasn't been pushed through yet. I hope it's not blocked for legal reasons, which wouldn't surprise me.

Today's Daily Deal is Anomaly: Warzone Earth, a reverse tower-defence game. And no, I don't know how that works. £3.06 / $3.40

Today's Daily Deal is Cold Fear. It's a likeable enough 3rd Person Shooter set on a Russian Whaler where things have gone very wrong. £2.49 / $4.99
  • edited November 2011
Today's Daily Deal is Dream Chronicles: The Chosen Child, the third in a series of hidden object games, though only this one is on Steam. £3.74 / $5.10

Also, I've found that both Machinarium and Samorost2 are half price at £3.74 / $4.99 and £1.99 / $2.49 respectively. Can't see any reason behind this, they just... are.

Man, is there any indie game you haven't played?

Man, is there any indie game you haven't played?

most of the ones that are not on steam and the ones that don't run on my old toaster which will be replaced in december so I can play more indie games (and Skyrim).
I really love steam for introducing me to the world of indie games with my first ever purchase in their store (which was Audiosurf).

Not really a sales but Cavestory+ is now available on Steam.
It's the classic freeware game with better graphics and new music (if you choose to activate them), better controller support and Steamachievements. It also some more stuff squeezed into it.

    Right now it's 15%off which means: $/€ 8.49 and £5.94

Right. Is there still an interest in a Secret Santa? I won't be able to participate if so, but I'd be happy to organize it. Or we could just wait until the proper Holiday sale.
