Chyron leaves his games paused, which is what I would be afraid of with regards to causing damage. [...] Also, screensavers don't come on in a game. So you're leaving your monitor in the hands of the fates, another thing I'm paranoid about.
For PC games, that would be paused and minimized. I wouldn't leave a game running paused and the active program in fullscreen for hours unless I was otherwise distracted by something and forgot. However, I have frequently Alt-Tabbed to another application (like Firefox, to read these forums) and left the game running in the background for a long time. So my power settings do turn my monitor off after a time.
Come to think of it, I don't know if the video card is constantly thinking about programs that are minimized. Also, I run most games in windowed mode if possible so I don't think that would prevent my power settings from turning the monitor off.
Basically, leaving games running paused forever, yes I do that. Leaving a TV or monitor on forever for a pause screen to cause potential burn-in, no I don't do that.
Ah. Alt-Tabbing. Another thing I'm afraid of . Not because I fear damage, but because I've had a bad history of crashing and freezing when alt-tabbing from games. I just don't do it anymore, even though my machine is now a beast and can probably handle it. It's just habit. Which is why I love Steam's in-game UI. And I hate playing games in Window mode. I'm forced to, however, for ScummVM and a few other apps.
The reason why I play games in window mode is because I have a (larger) TV connected as a second monitor--its native resolution is 1280x720. Without assigning it as the primary monitor (which moves the taskbar and icons), I can still make a game fill my TV screen by dragging a windowed 1280x720 game over to it.
(notice the black area below the game screen indicating a smaller resolution; and the partial window border on the right side of the desktop area and the very top of the game screen, indicating windowed mode)
Today's Daily Deal is The Bard's Tale. Sodding FINALLY. I was waiting for this to go down in price during the XMas sale and it never did! Lousy, no good son of a...
Did anyone else get a coupon for Assassin's Creed: Revelations for 50%? So can get it for 25 bucks. Not sure if I want to spend the money though. I loved the first Assassin's Creed, but I hate the second one.

Revelations is just more of AC2, same with Brotherhood.
And we are opposite on that. I hate AC1, but love AC2.

It seems everyone gets one when they restart Steam.
It's a very good game on the DS, if occasionally infuriatingly luck-based in the later levels. Never tried the PC version.
Also, it decided to give me two 50% off coupons for AC:Revelations for some reason, so if someone feels the need to play it and didn't get a coupon, PM me and I'll send you one.

Likewise. I may well use one of them, but the other's definitely up for grabs.
I haven't received anything yet. Come on Valve, Ive defended you, haven't I?
Well I called them out on the fail of a X-mas coal game, yes free games is fun, but not like that at all. Only good deal I've seen is my friend winning F-ing Half Life 2 for recommending Terraria.
...or all three for the bundle price of £3.74 / $6.24. Amazingly, we in the UK get the better deal there, yays.
There's also the Squeenix Hit Collection, which contains far too many games for me to care, for a pretty good £54.99 / $74.99.
Over on GamersGate it is indeed THQ Week (didn't we just have one of those on Steam?), and pretty much everything by THQ is half price.
Today's Deal (though how it can be today's deal if everything's half price) is Saints Row: The Third, which is £14.98 (don't know the US price. Guessing at $19.99 though). Also, if you're interested in any of the literally DOZEN bits of DLC, they're half price too, so go check 'em out.
And finally, it's not on offer, but Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai is now out. You RTS fans go enjoy that.
EDIT: Oh hey, all the DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is half price, but the core game itself isn't! Hmm.
So... does anybody here know the basis of Valve giving out coupons? Today I get into Steam, and suddenly, I have TWO coupons for Assassin's Creed: Revelations all of a sudden (sorry, already gifted to people), despite having ACR and not participating in any of the extra-activities when there are sales or stuff like that. I just don't understand, why? O_o
Comments
Other Midweek Madness is Shogun 2 and exactly one piece of DLC. Read carefully.
Total War: Shogun 2 - £7.50 / $7.50 (grr)
Total War: Shogun 2: Rise of the Samurai - £1.50 / $2.50 (?)

Ahem. It's £3.49 / $4.99.
Revelations is just more of AC2, same with Brotherhood.

Really? That's odd.
I got 66% off Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes.
Honestly, I am tempted. Very tempted to use it!

No-one's got any idea why we're getting these?
Valve hates me, no coupon for me.:(
I'm not going to use it. It's nowhere near the same as the core Might and Magic series, nor Heroes of Might and Magic, so I'm not interested.
Well I called them out on the fail of a X-mas coal game, yes free games is fun, but not like that at all. Only good deal I've seen is my friend winning F-ing Half Life 2 for recommending Terraria.
Depends. Is it of Saints Row 3 or Mass Effect?
Huzzah!
WOO! *High Fives*
I guess it must be ubisofts way of trying to sell their games.
No, it's AC:R.
The 24 hours only deals for the rest of the week includes:
Saints Row the Third - 50%
Darksiders - 75%
Metro 2033 - 75%
Red Faction Armageddon - 75%
Today's Daily Deal is Alternativa, an above average point-'n'-click adventure. £3.39 / $4.41.
Also on Steam this weekend is a Square-Enix weekend. Today's Squeenix Saving is the Hitman series, which is 75% off.
Hitman: Codename 47 - £1.49 / $2.49
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin - £1.49 / $2.49
Hitman: Blood Money - £1.49 / $2.49

We just had a 2K week on Steam, you just kept calling it THQ week.
Thanks for the update.
Ooh I've been looking at that for a while now, and at that price I think I'll grab it.
