here's the flip side most people will know what a gun is and with the possible exception of the safety catch and the ammo running out most people could shoot one, maybe not accurately but still...

so these parallels could go on for ages ;)

    What Carley was really thinking

Carley: So Tired... Ugh no batteries in this thing. Maybe Lee could go find them and put them in. and then maybe he can find me some coffee

Yeah, never underestimate woman's ability to "play dumb" to get someone else to do things for her....

While the average woman is smarter than the average man.

Haven't experienced that in any of my dates...

all went well, didn't cost more than we'd normally spend in a day...
kept in contact with them, circumstances just couldn't kept it going for long...
    :(

the twist I guess, is they're the one who either dress for the occasion or in person called our outing a date...
    :)

Well I did met one who I had an opposite reaction...
people say they try to get things out of us... but with her, when I did something to help her, she ask
    "why r u doing this?"

Out of curiosity, how would u respond to that line? I was blank at that time...

When I played through it I couldn't say anything but "Fuck this bitch is stupid!". Like seriously... how do you not know that a radio needs batteries? And then to put them in wrong despite there being a clear and obvious picture that shows which why they go in. It's one of the two reasons why I saved her instead of Dave, I figured "This bitch is so stupid she doesn't even know how to work a radio, she needs my help more than Dave.", The other reason I saved her is because I weighed their strengths, and in my mind the woman who is a deadeye with her gun is more valuable than the tech geek in the Zombie apocalypse.
What's funny about me making that choice is that afterwords when Clementine had her broken radio and was crying I thought to myself "DAMNIT! If Dave was here he could fix it!" XD
    Life's a bitch like that.

Let's see what we have here:

    1. She doesn't check for batteries.

    2. When Lee offers to find some, she says "thanks, I wouldn't know what to look for."

    3. She puts the batteries in the wrong way round.

Individually these three moments aren't that bad (she was tired, we've all know someone who's put the batteries in the wrong way round, and checking the power source is the number one answer on customer service lines for a reason), but put them all together and they make a trifecta of stupid.

Maybe she's racist and likes makin the black guy work for her?
Or she likes Lee and is playing dumb to see if he'll do things for her?
Or she's the dumbest news reporter in history! And that's saying something...

And so the conversation degenerates from why Carley doesn't know how to use batteries to homosexual fashion statements. *facepalm*

Staying with a threads topic is always preferred, fellas. Perhaps take the back and forth banter between the two of you to PMs? Thanks.

maybe she has never had anything that takes batteries like that old radio or maybe she didn't think that a drugstore would have batteries. then again she could just be dumb when it comes to tech stuff

Ya know If Carley comes from a Rich family it could be she just threw out anything that stops working. Or maybe she has bad eyesight but has never got glasses .

Do not read this posting, if you haven't played the game yet. Knowing this part of the plot will most certainly annihilate all your pleasure of playing the game. You have been warned... In fact, don't read it at all because it's stupid.

Yes, it was very funny to encounter the problems that Carly had with her radio, but seriously? That kind of destroyed the atmosphere a little. How can a person be that stupid? Even in such a stressful situation...

1.) She doesn't check for batteries in the radio, when it doesn't work?
2.) She doesn't know how batteries look like? "I wouldn't know what to look for"
3.) She puts them in the wrong way?

w00T? Clementine is smarter, than her. She knows how to operate a radio (wt)! Anyway, this element of the game might be too humoristic. It kind of counteracts the tension of the sincerity of the situation they're in.

I'm amazed that she stayed alive that long. Well, she probably will always need somebody to save her ... like Doug and Lee (if you choose to) did. Does this make her valuable for the player? Because men feel good about helping the helpless damsel in distress? But to be honest ... she won't survive episode 2 anyway, right? She probably kills a lurker halfway, gets bitten and then she walks backwards in a pitchfork or something.

I didn't read every post so I hope I'm not rehashing what someone else already said but here is my take on it:

Yes, it is a very very poor example of what the devs were trying to accomplish, it was way too common sense to make their point. The whole reasoning behind it (in my opinion) though is to further showcase the fact that if you save Doug, you have a "tech" guy on your side. If you save Carly you have a sharpshooter on your side. The broken radio was just to showcase the fact that saving her means you lose someone with tech expertise in Doug. I agree though, the whole thing was silly, but I appreciate the reasoning behind it being there. Should have been something a bit more high tech they were trying to get working though to showcase the point, not batteries in a radio.

Just gonna put my 2 cents in and say I really didn't like this puzzle at all. Sure you can come up with all sorts of justifications for it, but I think in the end it's that it's just kinda dumb. It also made me feel a little uneasy, it's needlessly chauvinistic. Instead of the radio being the "deciding factor" for choosing who dies it could've been something a little more complex. The player could've still had to figure out how to get the radio working, but it definitely didn't need the whole "I can't figure it out 'cuz I'm a girl" scenario.

Yes, I'm aware that the books/TV show contain the same sort of vibes sometimes (The women doing laundry/childcare etc.) but it also features some bad-ass female characters like Michone and to a lesser extent, Andrea so it feels a little more balanced.

I can't tell if the puzzle was quickly put together or if the antenna bit was just a red hairing it would have been interesting if after putting the batteries in right then extending the antenna then turning up the volume then pressing power everything comes in clearly antenna not up means its fuzzy volume not up means it's too quiet. etc

I don't think it has anything to do with the gender, at least she does not behave very "girl like".

I never touched the antenna or the volume so I cannot tell if there are differences in the sound quality but I heard that if you move up the volume, it will attract the zombies once you get it working. If this is true, I think it has nothing to the with "quickly put together" but rather "keep it simple for the inexperienced player".

puzzle ? no merely an interaction 'vehicle' to get to know and judge carly....
so i read/heard some where this game is about the survival of lee and queen clem and thats the focus but it has some puzzles in to make it more interesting/fun..

i also moved the volume but before the batteries where in no zombies came...can you do it again and take a screen cap ?
