Your vehement distaste for DRM suggested to me that you oppose being required to install additional seemingly unnecessary software just to get a game to download/install/run.
I'm not sure I do. When I download a game, it really is not avoidable that my computer communicates with the DL platform's server. I have full choice over the method, browser or plugin with gog. I'm not opposed to the concept of the plugin, and I gladly would have continued to use it if it had worked at least 75% to my satisfaction (Like, "double the download speed, but first download defunct? Yeah, OK, I'll try that again").
I simply do not see a connection to invasive DRM, forced online activation, continuous online verification during play, continuous advertising forced on the consumer, non-consensual updates of the game, non-consensual gathering of single player game statistics and of course the collection of, marketing and trade with the customer's personal data.
It's the end of the world as we know it, and we've got a ton to play. Over 125 games up to 75% off, including all past daily deals. There are too many to list, so I just linked the main page so you can all go nuts. Also, we've got two new SURPRISE releases. A New Beginning comes to us courtesy of Daedalic Entertainment (the Deponia guys), and Capsized from Alientrap Games, both for the launch price of $4.99. However, both are part of today's massive sale, so each one comes in a different bundle for $2.79 a pop, though only if you buy the whole bundle. Be quick though, you may not have time to play these games after Friday.
Edit: Well now, don't I feel silly for getting wrapped up in the forum's endless database errors.
Apparently, it's been confirmed that this is it. Each bundle on sale today is a planned bundle during the sale, except for one that hasn't been announced or shown yet.
Guess this qualifies as big enough to talk about. GOG has another gift for you in this season of giving. EA has given GOG the go-ahead to add the long requested expansion packs for Alpha Centauri, Wing Commander 1+2 and Wing Commander Privateer.
Hmm that Daedalic bundle is priced just outside of impulse buy range, and doesn't include the new Deponia... both understandable but it's put me on the fence
Then it should also be mentioned that the only way to save on Baldur's Gate is to buy it in this bundle. If you don't buy the full bundle, BG and BG2 are the full 10 bucks.
Ooh, I've been interested in XIII. Had no idea it was on GOG. So, it's a definite pick up for me (especially at $3).
And, I caved in and bought the rest of the games that were in my shopping cart. So now I own all the Sierra games available on GOG.com (minus SWAT 3), the Little Big Adventure games, and all the Zork games (plus a bunch more adventures and Personal Nightmare). I don't normally spend on myself like this for Christmas sales, but I've been wanting to pick these games up for a while.
So, with the loss of XIII, that takes the number of games currently on GOG down to 494. Even with this loss, we're still really close to the mystical, magical 500th game, and it sounds like GOG has something big planned for it. I'm hoping for Pegasus Prime HD, but that's still in beta.
Caved and bought a bundle I probably shouldn't have. Also, Shadow Warrior, which I'm ashamed I didn't already own and will now commit Sepuku to atone for.

The gog downloader is not required, not at all.

(If I had some mooneys left, I'd get it! (Maybe tomorrow after work... >_>))
...and it's just the Daedalic Adventure bundle again. Huh.
Nothing spectacular.
(Good thing I get paid tomorrow... >_> )
It doesn't actually show that on the page, though.
Normally they do. Maybe they'll work it into today's holiday deal newspost.
Yeah, I'll pick that up for three bucks. It was something I strongly considered getting on GameCube at one point.
Shame it ends on a cliffhanger though.
