What about it? I've not had many issues with it at all. It's Vista that has problems, Windows 7 works fine.

Well, besides my issue which was something else with my GPU, there seemed to be OEM issues with the Windows 7 install and many games for many people just will not work properly or at all. Arkham City was the big one that brought the issue front and centre. Apparently, the issue is with the Windows installation and reinstalling it fixes the problem(albeit a pain in the ass).

Other than game issues, I haven't really heard many problems with it once you get used to it.

Thanks for not derailing the thread guys!

    New Flash Deals:
    Galactic Civilizations Ultimate 75% off
    Max Payne 3 50% off
(Don't buy this mess at this price unless you like depressing movies, because this is one)
Everything Red Faction: Armageddon 75% off
    Portal Franchise 75% off

Congratulations TellTale: The Walkming Dead won the community vote with 43%.
If you think about getting Max Payne 3 and don't own this then get TWD. It's just like Max Payne but with less cutscenes and without annoying on screen effects.

Hey, everything that wasn't game related is gone... pretty much. Not much was going on for Steam deals this evening here, lots of repeats.

    2 repeats, 3 new.:D

Including daily deals? I was watching them and not posting because I was pretty sure I've seen all the good ones before(good being a general consensus, not just games I like). I could be wrong. Red Faction is new I think though.
  • edited July 2012
I like how Krater defines the offline single player mode as a core feature. Oh Blizzard. Just look at the mess you made.
  • edited July 2012
...and The Walking Dead will be back on for 40%. These updates are kind of pointless though. Really, anybody who actually cares is watching the store and not this. Oh well, we're all just sheep I suppose.

I really like watching this thread.
Opinions on games, I get the sales here faster if steam is crawling at the speed of 10 snails etc.
Also here I see what I am missing in the German Steam store or if I get a really bad price because I am not in the US.

Okay, now it's down to business. Amanita Collection 75% off. If for some weird reason, you don't have it, BUY IT PEOPLE(and I meant during this sale, I know this thread has a purpose).

    It's not.

New vote: Demigod, Splinter Cell: Conviction and The Last Remnant. Eh.

New Flash deal: The Aminita bundle. Botaniculam, Machinarium (and its OST) and Samorost2. Usual 75%.

Doing this thread actually give me something to do. I find myself very bored lately, just sitting around not knowing what to do with myself. This is one of the few things I somewhat look forward to. God my life is lame.

    It's not.

It is. Another game of the series was discounted (Guerilla) but not the others.

Only if they don't have a Windows 7 machine. On Windows 7 it's borderline unplayable.

Was playing it on Windows 7 64bit and it was working absolutely fine. It was the gog version though.

    Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet

    75% off (that's $3.74 in US dollars)

The only downside is that this uses GFWL, but otherwise you should really get this. It's an amazing XBLA game and it comes with the DLC they charge $4 to get on XBLA. The game is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, and amazingly well-designed, with an incredible sense of scale and exploration.

If you have the money and a lick of good sense, buy this.

    It's really, really good.

    Civilization V 75%
    Deus Ex: Human Revolution 75%
    Crysis Franchise 70%
    Magicka Franchise 75%
    FEAR Franchise 75%
    Red Orchestra Franchise 75%
    Driver: San Francisco 75%
    Dungeon Defenders Franchise 75%
Indie Bundle VII (Capsized, Revenge of the Titans, Zeno Clash, VVVVVV, Jamestown)
Wow. This is the best indie bundle so far. Tomorrow there will be a good one too.
  • edited July 2012
I decided to pick up Red Orchestra 2.
Wanted to give a go before, but the price was a bit steep (since I didn't really play the 1st game).

I think I will give this a shot though, once I get a few hours to play it.
I like tough games, so this should be the sort of thing I might like for a little while.

I own most of the other games, and crysis looks meh.
  • edited July 2012
I guess you guys decided to wait. Cool.

    Crysis 2 - 70% off
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (franchise) - 75% off
Driver: San Francisco - 75% off
    Dungeon Defenders (+ DLC) - 75% off
    F.3.A.R. (franchise) - 75% off
Indie Bundle IX (Capsized, Jamestown, Revenge of the Titans, VVVVVV and Zeno Clash) - 75% off
    Magicka (+ DLC) - 75% off
Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad (franchise)- 75% off
    Sid Meier's Civilization V (+ most DLC) - 75% off

EDIT: Gah, ketzer ninja'd me. Ah well, you get 'em listed twice. Whatever.

The current Flash Deals (I can't remember which are new and which aren't, and I can't be bothered to check):
Crusader Kings 2, Far Cry 2, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet and Limbo.

Age of Empires III - 75% off

I already own a physical copy of the base game, but I'm a bit tempted because of the expansions and the convenience of getting it on Steam. Anyone know if the expansions are worth it?

What I want to know is if the game forces you to have GFWL to play it. There is an older retail version out there that has doesn't require it, but they don't sell it anymore. I don't want it if it needs it.

I ended up buying it. According to this AoE III FAQ on the Steam forums it doesn't require GFWL:

Age of Empires III does not require Games for Windows Live, and there are no achievement points available.

One thing I didn't mention is that Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet has the best camera I have ever seen in a video game, hands down. It's to the point where the camera in the game is immediately impressive. Watch this, this run-down of the camera system gets across the really cool camera tech that gives ITSP its very unique animated film-like look without sacrificing gameplay functionality(and actually aiding game functionality).
  • edited July 2012
Great. I burned my dinner because I was reading this thread. I hate you now Marsden.
  • edited July 2012
If I may drag this thread away from ITSP...

The latest Flash Deal is Tales of Monkey Island. Which, as I'm sure you all know, is awesome. Usual 75.

Definitely. Could have been better, sure, but it could have more easily been a lot worse. Great little adventure, especially considering they worked with LucasArts, the Wii hardware, and the influence of post-Curse ideas about the Monkey Island franchise.

ERAAHGHGHGH. No monies! I'm saddened that it requires GFWL, though. I guess I won't be buying it on PC after all.

Public vote was won by Risen. The sequel is not included.

New vote: Borderlands, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Unreal Tournament III. Hoping for the later.

Also, new Flash Deal with Burnout Paradise, at a frankly insane 80% off, while the Need for Speed franchise is 75%.
  • edited July 2012
Okay, right now we got Bulletstorm, Braid, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines(FPP from Activision, that can't be a good sign), and Oblivion at 75.
  • edited July 2012
Just a reminder - if you want Oblivion, get the Deluxe edition.

EDIT: Public vote winner was Borderlands. AGAIN. Jeez, you'd think everyone had this by now.

New voting choices: Orcs Must Die!, Rayman Origins and Warlock: Master of the Arcane.

Latest Flash Deal: Pro Cycling Manager 2012 (WTF?).

first of all: Bloodlines is one of the best RPGs ever made. Get it, get a fanpatch and sink 50 hours in it. Do EEEET.

That would be because of the Tour de France (maybe with Brad Wiggins going to win that, they think they'll get a few more British buyers for it). At 50 percent off, it's still way overpriced though, since those Cycling Manager games tend to be pretty buggy.

Of all the things I'm surprised aren't on sale... the Duels of the Planeswalkers games. I know that 2013 is still a new game, but 2011 and 2012?
  • edited July 2012
I am surprised we never saw Mass Effect 1+2.

I know it's too late, but I just want to back this up. "From Activision"? More like "Published by Activision, made by Troika". And Troika...they're the forgotten geniuses of the RPG genre. They developed some of the best games ever made that nobody ever played.
  • edited July 2012
New vote: Age of Empires III Complete Collection, King's Bounty: Armored Princess and Might & Magic Heroes VI.

The only one of those I know anything about is AoE III from having played it when it came out some years ago. Overall it's pretty enjoyable even if it's a step down from AoE II and AoM. The only new gameplay mechanic I remember is that you use experience points to follow a tech tree that gradually lets you receive more and more shipments from your hometown. There's also an option to progressively let you customize the design of your hometown but that's very uninteresting.

Like mentioned earlier in this thread the Steam version of AoE III doesn't use GfWL if my source is correct.

Fair enough, I just saw it was bundled with CoD and got a sinking feeling. I'm not going to apologise though, I've made it quite clear that I've never followed RPGs what so ever before coming here :p

Bundling Call of Duty with Bloodlines is like bundling Michael Bay's Transformers with Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo because both were distributed by Paramount.
  • edited July 2012
Yes, I get it. They were bundled by publisher with no real theme. Eh, I knew nothing about the game.

Hey, apparently Super Meat Boy is on a 48hr flash sale. Well I guess we'll only have 3 flash slots for the rest of the sale.

Aww they fixed it...it's only 8 now. Here I was hoping for some what the fuck reactions. It's on for 75 again...and so is Serious Sam 3... again.
  • edited July 2012
Also putting Bloodlines in the "Hits" pack is really a joke. The financial failure of Bloodlines is what sank Troika, so calling it a "Hit" is pretty ridiculous.
  • edited July 2012
Bunch of deals, though about about half are repeated.

Arma II: Combined Operations - 50% off (oddly enough, it's not available in the UK)
Batman: Arkham City - 66% off
    Evochron Mercenary - 75% off
Fable III - 75% off (and still way overpriced, IMHO)
Indie Bundle X (All Zombies Must Die!, Beat Hazard, BIT.TRIP RUNNER, Eufloria and Machinarium) - 75% off
Prince of Persia (franchise) - 75% off
    Torchlight - 75% off
    Quantum Conundrum - 40% off
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War (franchise) - 75% off (or the entire Dawn of War series at 92% off!)

Flash Deals: Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga, Serious Sam 3, Super Meat Boy and Tropico 4. All 75%.

Rayman Origins won the public vote. New choices are Age of Empires III Complete, Might & Magic Heroes VI and the King's Bounty series.

And now they make cabbage rolls.

    Troika.jpg

They probably just looked at the metacritic score for that.

They have sold a lot of copies later at a discount though. Releasing the game so close to Half Life 2 was a huge mistake but they had to...

Everyone should pick up Arma 2: CO so we can get some DayZ on the go!
